Lead Developer – Mobile Applications - Brighton

You will:

  • report to our Connected Platform Development Lead, and work collaboratively with our product, test, security and backend teams
  • need to be hands-on at times, although be aware that this is not predominantly a coding role
  • oversee and support a team of 6 mobile app developers (located in Poland); take part in code reviews
  • support project and product planning with feasibility studies, proof of concept, work breakdown and time estimates
  • meet and work directly with our international clients in support of our connected platform services
  • roll your sleeves up when an extra pair of hands is required, for example to help achieve sprint goals or troubleshoot complex issues
  • take a leading role in our selection of emerging technologies, tools and processes; promote high standards and best practices

Skills and experience:

  • Typically, we’d expect you to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field, with at least 5 years’ directly applicable experience in a commercial environment
  • Prior team lead experience would be beneficial, or at least a strong desire to move into this sort of role, with a demonstrable track record of leadership and initiative in a commercial environment
  • Communication is extremely important in this role – you’ll be actively managing ongoing development activity with a distributed team, articulating technical progress and challenges to the business, and representing your team in meetings with clients and internal stakeholders
  • You’ll need to demonstrate robust native mobile app development experience, ideally with both iOS (Objective-C, Swift) and Android (Java), using MVVM, Dependency Injection and Reactive (Rx)
  • Hands-on experience with commercial software projects using source control (git flow), CI using Bitrise, app approvals and publication on the App Store and Google Play, as well as Testflight and Fabric for beta distribution

 Full-time, perm role; salary in the range £55k - £65k doe, plus benefits including:
