Sr Engineer, Software (Android)
A Senior Android developer is needed for a position at Atlanta or Denver. A senior developer will be responsible for building cutting edge user experience for T-Mobile Android applications. The senior developer will be working along-side other engineers and developers working on different layers of the applications. Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creating quality products is essential.
A senior developer will be working directly with product, UX, cross-functional teams and other stakeholders to understand the requirement and solutioning of our Android platform and applications.
What you'll do in your role.
Ability to work across a wide range of projects, each with specific functional and feature requirements.
Design and develop (code) creative and scalable systems and software solutions that address business and technical needs for Android application framework.
Guide and direct project teams to ensure compliance with standards and best practices and evaluate and recommend technologies for applicability to business systems.
Results-driven, able and willing to go extra mile to get the job done.
Evaluate opportunities to bring new product features and content to mobile users from a technical perspective.
Work with other cross-functional teams to understand the architecture and the services offered to integrate with the mobile applications.
Responsible for building and maintaining CICD (Continues Integration and Continues Development) for build and test automation pipeline.
Manage and perform production deployment packages and implementation plans for scheduled systems enhancements.
Contribute to and work to meet project schedules by closely working with Product, UI/UX teams providing accurate estimates of effort required for development deliverables, providing updates on project progress to development and project management, and escalating issues that might affect project success to the management.
Provide on-call and in-person support for troubleshooting, isolation, maintenance, operations, patching, incident management, problem management, build and deployments for owned software and servers.
7+ years of mobile software development experience with a minimum of 3+ years across Android, Kotlin, Rx Java 2, Rx Android Js, Dagger Framework
Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
Experience with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
Strong knowledge of Native Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
Experience and deep understanding of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
Demonstrate critical thinking skills, ability to accurately analyze information and make sound decisions
Solid grasp of mobile networking and REST Webservices
Experience and understanding of large and complex code bases, MVVM design patterns and architectures.
Experience in API design, SDK architecture, and mobile software lifecycle development practices.
Experience with cloud message APIs and push notifications
Experience with benchmarking and optimization of apps
Passionate about metrics and top performing applications; must have experience to maximize the efficiency and optimize performance of Android applications
Understanding of Google's Android design principles and interface guidelines
Proficient in Git and other DevOps tools
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
Nice to have:
Experience with reactive functional programming with RxSwift for iOS and RxJava for Android.
Familiarity with Node.js, React js and Angular Js
Understanding of server-side applications on Azure and AWS cloud infrastructures
