Cortical.io is a young entrepreneurial company focusing on natural language understanding (NLU). We use our patented technology in combination with sophisticated AI approaches to address problems others have failed to solve. Over the last couple of years, we have built an impressive client portfolio of global Fortune 100 companies.

We're looking for an experienced frontend engineer to join our Vienna-based development team and drive the user interface development of our AI-powered products. You'll work alongside our machine learning engineers to develop the frontend side of applications that use cutting-edge algorithms to solve real-world problems.

The ideal candidate for this position is a JavaScript, Angular.js, CSS and HTML expert with an eye for design and attention to detail. Ideally you also have knowledge of backend development and an interest in machine learning, natural language processing or artificial intelligence.

Basic requirements

  • Good working proficiency in written and spoken English
  • European Union citizenship or authorization to work in Austria

What you will be working on

  • Developing the user interfaces of our two flagship products: Contract Intelligenceand Semantic Search
  • Building prototype user interfaces for a range of proof-of-concept projects in the fields of natural language understanding and machine learning 

What you must have

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science (or related field) or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of frontend development work experience
  • Experience with at least one modern MVC-style JavaScript framework (such as Angular.js or React)
  • Solid knowledge of frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS3) and related technologies and methodologies (RESTful web services, Node.js)
  • Experience with code versioning tools (e.g. Git)
  • Experience writing automated tests
  • Ability to work independently, but also collaboratively in a self-organizing team
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills

It would be great if you also had

  • A master’s degree in computer science (or related field)
  • Experience with data visualization frameworks, such as D3.js
  • Interest or experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing
  • Experience in Java or Python development
  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with cloud based environments
  • Working knowledge of Linux, web servers and web security (e.g. nginx, SSL, OWASP)
