We seek an insanely curious, friendly, and resourceful Software Engineer to join our Operations Technology team. In this role, you'll work closely with a tight-knit team to develop and maintain applications for Custom Ink’s internal technology operations. As such, you will have a direct impact on the performance and efficiency of the company.


You'll build, maintain and have ownership of applications that drive obvious, measurable improvements to our business operations. For example, your work will impact the visibility, accuracy and speed of our order fulfillment and production workflows. More specifically, you will:

-Help maintain and build web applications and services written in Ruby, JavaScript, CoffeeScript, jQuery and SCSS-Engineer applications while balancing technical approaches, business needs and timelines-Work with internal stakeholders to understand their business needs-Collaborate with our Web Operations team to help measure the performance of and tune our internal applications-Collaborate with the eCommerce development team in rolling out new capabilities and lines of business


-You are a contributor to our culture. You help to evolve our software practices by participating in (or leading) design sessions, brown bag sessions, and team discussions.-You consistently commit high quality software. You strive to commit well designed and maintainable code with low defect rates.-You complete your assigned tasks in a timely manner. You identify gaps in your requirements and immediately raise the concerns along with proposed solutions.-You will demonstrate ownership of our software and applications by resolving defects (your own or your team’s), keep gems/modules/frameworks up to date, and support the team in emergency situations (attacks or outages).


-You have a 3-5 year track record demonstrating the following attributes and abilities:-Passionate about developing applications and curious about business operations-As good at building internal relationships as you are at building applications-Both an awesome individual contributor and a phenomenal team player-Capable and confident developing applications in Ruby, Rails and JavaScript-Know how to setup and deploy Ruby on Rails web applications and have experience with relational databases.-Demonstrated ability to solve complex business challenges-Able to toggle back and forth between the bigger picture business need and honing in the minute details of a system or process-Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills-Able to navigate and get things done in a Unix environment like Linux and OS X-Your curiosity extends to other frameworks, languages, design principles, aesthetics and ways of improving how you and your team works.
